Side Effects of Vitamins
Many people who are either currently taking vitamins or planning to start taking them on a daily basis wonder if there are any types of side effects to taking vitamins. In reality, there can be side effects to taking vitamins, however, it is important to understand the causes of these side effects.
Because vitamins and minerals are completely natural (and essential) for a healthy body, regular doses of vitamins will not cause any side effects. Whether you are taking individual vitamins or a multivitamin, as long as you choose to use vitamins as directed, you will be completely free from side effects. However, if you choose to ignore the directions on the bottle and ingest more than is recommended, there is a fair chance that you could suffer from some potential side effects.
If taken in extremely large doses (which is never recommended by manufacturers or doctors), vitamins can have different side effects. However, the types of side effects which are possible are completely dependent on which vitamin is taken in a large dosage. For example, one of the vitamins with the most side effects when taken in large amounts is vitamin C. It is very important to never take more than one vitamin C pill per day. When taken in excessive amounts, vitamin C can cause several minor side effects, including nausea and diarrhea. Additionally, these large amounts of vitamin C can cause more serious conditions, including kidney and bladder stones.
As you can see, even though vitamins do have the potential to cause certain side effects, it is very rare for this to happen. As long as you follow the directions given to you by the vitamin bottle or a qualified doctor, there will be no chance that you experience any side effects from taking vitamins.
