Sleep Apnea Solutions

Sleep apnea can be almost like a curse to those who suffer from it. It is a disorder in which a person will repeatedly stop breathing during sleep, causing their brain to arouse them from deep sleep so they start breathing again. Because of this, a person with sleep apnea will rarely get as much quality deep sleep as they should.

Sleep apnea is a progressive sleeping disorder which can cause a person to mentally and physically deteriorate fairly rapidly if it isn't treated. Sleep apnea can cause very severe damage to a person's health, or even kill them in time.

Sleep apnea solutions are aplenty but naturally, some are more effective than others and each depends entirely upon the characteristics of the individuals' sleep apnea as to whether it is a viable treatment option for them.

There are two kinds of sleep apnea, but a person may suffer from them both, potentially making treatment even more difficult.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most common form of sleep apnea and is caused by an obstruction within the airways which during sleep causes a person to be unable to breathe. Obstructive sleep apnea solutions are sometimes surgery or machines to keep the airways open during sleep such as the CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure), devices which prevent the tongue becoming an obstruction to the airways, jaw-adjustment devices which work by moving the mandible into a forward position to open the airways more. Another is lifestyle/behavioural adjustment. This is discussed in more detail here: Sleep Apnea Treatment.

Central Sleep Apnea is caused by errors in brain signals. Instead of the lungs receiving the instructions to breath loud and clear as normal, the signals may not be sent which causes a person to stop breathing. Central Sleep Apnea is usually treat with medication, or in some cases a CPAP machine which seems to encourage Central Sleep Apnea suffers to continue breathing.
