The next thing to speeding up your metabolism is weight loss. Metabolism is a biochemical process in which the foods that we eat are converted into calories. Calories combine with oxygen to release the energy our body needs to perform all its functions.
Although it is not always true to think that a slow metabolism is the culprit to a slow weight loss, but speeding up your metabolism plays a big part in trimming down. Having said these, there are secrets in increasing one’s metabolism.
Get into green tea-ing. This leaf contains a compound called ECGC that is capable of fat burning. A study shows that people who consume 3 to 5 cups a day for 3 months were able to reduce their weight by 4 to 5 percent. Studies also proved that drinking 2 to 4 cups of green tea daily can burn up to 50 calories a day. That is equivalent to 5 pounds a year. To be able to get the maximum effect, you need to deep tea bag for three minutes and while it is still hot.
Pump up the iron. Women lose iron during menstruation. If iron levels get too low, the body’s muscles will lose oxygen, our energy splutters and metabolism slows down. To get enough iron that your body needs, you can grab iron-fortified cereals, or include beans and green leafy veggies in your daily diet. You can also take iron supplements together with your multivitamins.
Go to bed early. A lot of people think that sleeping less than 8 hours a day can help speed up metabolism and lose weight. Well guess again, it is the other way around. Staying up all night and snoozing fewer hours than you should can result to an increased body mass one research says. So you have to hit the sack early and make sure you sleep at least 8 hours a day.
Don’t starve. Lowering your calories below 1000 can trick the body into thinking that you are on starvation mode and it will automatically slow down metabolism. Make sure you eat breakfast before starting your day and eat small frequent meals the rest of the day. These will ensure you have enough energy to fuel your metabolism.
Load up on water. You’ve heard it over and over. Water is needed in the process of metabolism for it to work effectively.
Engage into progressive resistance exercises like weight training. You need these exercises to build muscles. Muscles can burn calories fast and the more you have of it the more calories you burn even when you’re at rest.
