Genital warts occur because of the viral infection, HPV. HPV is the Human Papillomavirus and affects men, women, and children of every shape and size. Genital warts can appear as cauliflower-like bumps, growing into small or large clusters. They can also appear flat, and those are often hard to see, especially if they are growing inside your genitalia. Genital warts can appear on, or around your genitals, as well as inside your genital area.

Symptoms of genital warts can include warts on or around the genitals and anal area, as well as having an accompaning burning or itching sensation while urinating. Any abnormal discharge from the penile or vaginal areas could also be an indicator of genital warts. Symptoms don't always appear right away, which is why it is important to get regular physical examinations to ensure you're in good health.

A variety of treatment options are avaliable for those who have genital warts. Which option you use, depends on many different factors. How much the treatment costs, the size and severity of your warts, as well as your practioners ability to use the treatment properly. Treatments include topical medication, cryotherapy (freezing off the wart), and antibiotics. The length of time for the treatment depends on the type of treatment you choose. Treating the warts does not cure the viral infection that caused them.
