Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes
An estimate puts up to ninety-five percent of all diabetics as Type 2, making Type 2 by far and away the most common form of diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes has strong links with obesity and unhealthy living, and was formerly known as ‘Adult Diabetes'.
Due to reasons such as poorer diets and less physical exercise, childhood obesity levels have increased to an astounding all-time high. Along with obesity come many health issues which in the past usually only adults faced. One of these health issues linked to obesity is diabetes. Therefore as it was no longer considered a disorder largely exclusive to adults, it became known as Type 2 Diabetes.
Those genetically vulnerable to the development of diabetes can in fact prevent onset altogether or control Type 2 Diabetes themselves by taking necessary exercise and following a controlled diet.
Type 2 Diabetes can be due to an inadequate production of insulin, but the main cause is in fact Insulin Resistance. ‘Insulin Resistance' is the bodies near inability / unwillingness to allow insulin to deliver Glucose (Blood Sugar) throughout the body. The blood therefore gets stuck with an abundance of Glucose and has nowhere to go with it. When Glucose levels reach a very high point , the body attempts to rid itself of some of this Glucose by passing it to the bladder to be urinated out.
Insulin Resistance generally occurs when the blood has been loaded up with too much glucose for a long period of time, eventually making the insulin become resistant.
It is important to know the symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes can be similar to some of those of Type 1 Diabetes. This is because Type 1 Diabetics are at risk of becoming either Hypoglycaemic (Lacking blood sugar) or Hyperglycaemic (Too much blood sugar) and require both insulin and glucose supplements to counter either, whereas Type 2 Diabetics usually don't take insulin, therefore simply have to keep their blood sugar levels down by taking exercise and keeping to the correct diet, and providing they don't take insulin, are only at risk of becoming Hyperglycaemic .
The common symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes are usually fatigue, increased hunger, increased thirst, increased urination and weight loss and perhaps blurred vision. Diabetes Symptoms Articles |
