Okay - so morning sickness sucks - that is a given. It sucks when you wake up and can’t face breakfast. It sucks when you wake up and think you can handle breakfast, make it - and then realize you can’t handle it. And it sucks even more when you wake up thinking you can handle breakfast, make it, eat it and then go and throw it up. It also sucks that some smart person decided to label something as ‘morning’ sickness when it can hit in the afternoon or night. I bet that was a man.

But given all those negative experiences with morning sickness there is one thing that you need to remember and that is that morning sickness is a sign of a normal healthy pregnancy. I remember the most terrifying time in my pregnancy was when early on I had some bleeding and simultaneously suffered no morning sickness for three days. I was sure I had lost my baby and was terrified. So through it all hold on to that fact. You are going to have a child and that is fantastic!

Having said that, just because morning sickness is a perfectly natural part of pregnancy and common in most pregnant woman, it doesn’t mean you’ve got to sit around and be thankful that you feel like throwing up every time you open the fridge.

The first step is to avoid nasty smells. What constitutes unpleasant is different in every woman. The sense of smell is heightened in a pregnant woman and so the reaction to unpleasant odors is many times stronger. When you do come into contact with an unpleasant odor, try and get out of range as quickly as possible. If possible dispose of the odor - or even better get hubby to do it for you.

Diet is definitely a key component of morning sickness. Expectant mothers and doctors often disagree on what is edible and what isn’t, but one place they do agree is that citrus fruits and crackers are both effective to fight nausea. Keeping from having an empty stomach is also important, and ways of doing this range from keeping crackers beside the bed to having more regular smaller portions of high-carbohydrate. Rice is a good one that can be a base for whatever else you have cooked. Basically it goes with anything. Potatoes are also good. Combine this sensible eating plan with heaps of liquids and you will go along way to combating your nausea.

Fighting nausea is a most important step in ending morning sickness.

Vertigo is a condition that results in a sensation of movement whilst the body is remaining stationary. It can occur in two different ways, either a sensation that the body itself is moving or spinning, or a sensation that the world is moving around you. Vertigo is inconvenient in itself and results in over eleven million physician visits a year, but it is also leads to an increased risk of very serious disorders including brain tumors and strokes. Vertigo tends to get more regular and worse if not addressed and can lead to very serious imbalance problems.

How we treat vertigo will depend largely on the exact diagnosis that is given. The diagnosis should be able to accurately identify the underlying cause of the vertigo, and treatment will usually be based on the symptoms and concentrate on reducing how severe individual attacks of vertigo are, as well as aiming at curing the underlying cause. Most balance problems are a result of inner ear problems, sometimes an ear infection. The inner ear contains the vestibular system and controls our balance. However while in many cases certain exercises can treat a balance disorder, in other cases it can be more serious, such as a sign of brain damage or a tumor.

The immediate solution to vertigo is rest as soon as the vertigo comes on. The patient should be seated, control their breathing and restore their equilibrium. Many chronic vertigo sufferers will carry and use a cane to assist them with balance. Furthermore they learn quickly that they should adjust their movements slowly so as not to upset their center of balance.

There are a variety of drugs for vertigo which can be administered in several different ways. Depending on the patient and circumstances it is possible to use vertigo medication orally, through skin patches or via intravenous injection. Sometimes there is a bacterial infection present and in these cases antibiotics are often used to reduce the chances of further complications.

Vestibular rehabilitation exercises are effective in the treatment of vertigo. Patients begin lying down and then move to a sitting position. This is repeated multiple times until a full recovery is made and usually vertigo will not reoccur. These treatments are sometimes supplemented with popular homeopathic remedies including the use of dates, poppy seeds and citrus fruits. In the most severe cases it is sometimes necessary to operate on the inner ear. The operation inserts a plug into the vestibular system and has a 95% success rate of completely eliminating future vertigo attacks.

So with the right diagnosis and course of action it is possible to conquer vertigo.

Blood pressure is a measurement of the force with which blood presses against the artery walls and is the result of the combination of the heart pumping blood and the arteries resisting the blood flow. It is measured by a cuff around the arm which is inflated and then listening to the blood flow.

The measurement is given as two seperate numbers called the systolic and the diastolic pressure, and the unit used is millimeters of mercury. High blood pressure is usually thought to be anything above 140/90, and at this point or higher the patient needs to take action to lower their blood pressure. Aside from the measurement itself there are usually no other symptoms.

There are a range of ways to treat hypertension, and which one is appropriate will depend on the severity of the disease. Other health problems or issues can also effect the treatment chosen, specifically diabetes, heart problems or pregnancy.

Getting on to treatment early decreases the risk of the complications that can arise from a high blood pressure, specifically heart failure or attacks, coronary artery disease, kidney disorders and strokes. Treatment in mild cases can be as simple as bed rest and relation, but the treatment process is highly individualized to each patient depending on te individual factors that have led to the high blood pressure in that patient. In most cases treatment will start by looking at the current lifestyle the individual lives and making whatever changes are necessary to correct the problem.

Changes in lifestyle usually begin with identifying triggers and removing them. Diet is the first thing that is addressed with saturated fats and cholesterol reduced and removed where possible. Salt is also a huge cause of high blood pressure and is something that is easy to cut down on with a little education. Stress in the work place and at home is also addressed and removed wherever possible. Suggesting someone remove stress is easily said, but harder to do. If the patient is serious about their health they may need to take an extended amount of time away from work, and sometimes even from family. There are health spas which have been built specifically for this de-stressing purpose. Sometimes massage is added to this course to improve the blood flow and assist in de-stressing the patient.

Because the blood pressure issue resolves itself slowly there is a real need for prolonged commitment to the treatment. The patient must be serious about fixing the problem and make it their number one priority.

Dandruff is an annoying problem that can cause people to be very self conscious. In severe cases people avoid going out in public because they are embarrassed by their condition. In moderate cases people are constantly aware of the disorder and always feel like people are looking at them disapprovingly. Although most of what we know about dandruff is theory and clinical trials have been inconclusive, several things are for certain - dandruff effects peoples lives seriously, it is usually a recurring problem, and there is apparently no cure.

But just because there is no cure to the recurring nature of dandruff doesn’t mean that it cannot be treated and each outbreak can’t be controlled very quickly and effectively. There are whole ranges of shampoos that have been specially formatted purely to treat this problem. The following are some tips for treating and dealing with Dandruff.

If you suffer from dandruff dress in light colored clothing. You’ve probably already worked out had uncomfortable a black shirt makes you feel in public. A white shirt has the opposite effect.

Don’t scratch your scalp. Sure, it’s itchy, but scratching will only serve to worsen the problem, likely breaking up the skin more and spreading the fungus that contributes to your condition.

Minimize the hair styling products you use. These can irritate the scalp and result in a flare up of dandruff. Where you absolutely must use some sort of product in your hair, read the labels carefully and look for some hypoallergenic options.

Shampoos that have tea tree oil in them can be very effective as an anti-dandruff shampoo. The shampoo acts to ease the symptoms and actually makes the dandruff situation better.

Hair dyes can be another thing that will irritate the scalp. If you regularly dye your hair see if you can decrease the frequency of between dyes and you should notice a positive effect on your dandruff.

If the problems persist don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor or consult a specialist about what the options are. Your doctor may suggest rubbing a special oil into your scalp two or three times per week. This is quite a common treatment that keeps the scalp healthy and is an ongoing preventative process. He may also be able to prescribe you some drugs that will quicken the recovery from a flare up of dandruff, and will be able to recommend what shampoos will help ease the dandruff itch.

Premature Ejaculation is a problem, and it needs to be treated as an issue that needs a solution rather than something to tip-toe around and hope no-one is being upset. Everyone is being upset. The woman is being upset because she is not getting a full loving sexual experience, the man is being upset because he feels ‘less of a man’ for not being able to satisfy his woman. It is a problem that if pushed into the background can cause resentment and feelings of inadequacy, and it doesn’t need to, because it’s easily treated and very often easily cured.

If the problem is psychological - and it often it - many men benefit from distraction during sex. The distraction can come in many forms. It could involve an actual physical distraction such as biting the tongue or inner cheek, or pinching yourself. The distraction needs to be quite sharp if physical to draw the concentration away from the sexual act itself. Psychological distraction involves taking your thought process away from the sexual act altogether and usually concentrating on something unpleasant. This can sometimes completely tip the problem on it’s head and lead to a man being unable to ejaculate and even becoming flaccid. Overall distraction is a less than satisfactory solution, because it means that both parties aren’t getting full enjoyment out of the encounter.

In a similar boat is desensitization. This was perfectly illustrated in a recent popular movie where a character with a known premature ejaculation problem was told to wear two condoms to desensitize him and make the encounter last longer. There are a range of sprays lotions and creams on the market to serve this purpose.

Many men feel they have greater control over their orgasm when they lie on their back. It seems that the penis is less sensitive in this position and there is less chance of premature ejaculation. This isn’t a cure for every man however, so it’s worth trying various different positions. Every person responds to different sexual positions in different ways, so it’s well worth taking the time to try varied positions and see if this brings about a resolution to the problem.

Another observation is that men can last longer after their first orgasm. Usually they need a bit of time to recharge the tanks, but masturbating one to two hours before intercourse can have a positive effect on the length of time before ejaculation in intercourse.

You can cure premature ejaculation, but you first need to confront it and accept it is a problem.

Answering ‘what causes fibromyalgia?’ is not an easy proposition. The problem stems from the fact that it is an ‘invisible’ disease. There are no early warning signs that a case of fibromyalgia is developing, there are no tests to confirm or deny that a person has fibromyalgia, the only way of diagnosing it is via it’s symptoms. Symptoms include Chronic Pain, chronic fatigue, insomnia, hypersensitivity to touch, depression and irritable bowel syndrome. While it is not fatal or degenerative it is a disease that will affect every aspect of a sufferers life and in roughly 30% of cases will make it impossible to work fulltime.

One thing that is common to all cases of fibromyalgia is stress, though it is not clear whether the stress causes the symptoms, or the symptoms cause the stress. Stress is a very broad term used to describe the perception of a threat, either physical or psychological, and a helplessness to deal with it. Stress sufferers feel under pressure continuously and this continued state can cause serious problems. In fact doctors estimate that over 90% of diseases are either directly caused by stress or severely worsened by stress, so fibromyalgia being a result of stress is not only possible, but statistically it is almost certain.

What remains unanswered however is why some people react differently to stress that others. In the same situation one may feel stressed while another feels motivated by a challenge. Two people stressed by the same situation may channel that stress entirely differently. One may handle the situational stress well and later develop a skin rash, the other may panic when put in a stress causing situation, but have no health related side effects.

How and why our bodies relate differently to stress is difficult to explain, as it the definition of stress itself. Like Fibromyalgia it is not a measurable problem, it appears to be psychologically based and differs from person to person. For some people the idea of speaking in public is horrifying and the most stressful thing there is, for others it is a fun activity, for others it is a job. The situation is identical, but the response is different so clearly stress is a psychological thing and the response is unique to the wiring of the mind.

The result of this is that the treatment and cure of fibromyalgia is quite different from other diseases. Medical treatment can be given to relieve the symptoms, but it cannot be given to prevent fibromyalgia itself. That requires dealing with the root of the problem, the mind, stress and how we deal with things on a holistic level. Healing fibromyalgia is a process that is carried out internally and with the right information and mindset it is possible to end Fibromyalgia for good.

Hair Loss is nothing new. We can trace man’s distress at losing hair at least as far as the bible where Samson has his hair cut and equates the loss with losing all his strength. Many men feel the same today. Losing hair is a harrowing experience that an Australian study showed many men rate more stressful than a marriage break up. Combine that with the fact that around 60% of men will suffer from severe hair loss at some point in their life and you will see why there is such a wide variety of products that market to this area.

One of the most popular is Minoxidil. Minoxidil is marketed under a variety of brandname but is probably best known as Regaine in the United States and Rogaine elsewhere in the world. Minoxidil has been shown to regrow hair, unfortunately it requires continual application to ensure the regained hair remains. When you stop taking minoxidil, your hair will gradually regress back to it’s former state.

Laser therapy is sold by many hair loss studio’s and clinics around the world. It works in several ways, primarily stimulating the blood flow in the scalp and helping heal damaged and dying hair follicles. Laser therapy restores health to hair and speeds up growth, but there are a large group of men for which it’s benefits are probably going to be minimal because they addressed their baldness issue too late.

Hair transplants on the other hand are guaranteed to be successful and long lasting. Glandular follicles are transported to the cranial region of the head and will continue to grow normally. Hair transplants can be costly, and scarring can occur, however where successful the results can be spectacular and long lasting.

Propecia markets a finasteride pill that has had some good results in hair regrowth. This appeals to many people today in our fast society. A pill that is taken once a day doesn’t slow anyone down and they can get on with their life in the knowledge that their hair will be regrowing quickly. Unfortunately it doesn’t work out that easy. Propecia only works in some cases, and it is also known to have some serious side effects. These occur in a small percentage of cases(less that 5%) but for those men even having their hair back will be small consolation for sterility, infertility and Gynecomastia(growing man breasts). These side effects are often not explained and I have personally met several people who have suffered from them and continued to be effected several years after using propecia.

Some people are quite happy to discover a way to naturally regrow their hair.

One of the annoying things about Angular Cheilitis is that it appears to spring from nowhere and strike indiscriminately. Tracking down any sort of a pattern in the people it infects is nearly impossible so identifying triggers is a thankless task. However one thing that appears to be common in the majority of cases with angular cheilitis is that the immune system is generally operating at a lower than optimal level.

In the case of the elderly Angular Cheilitis is often the result of ill-fitting dentures, and where this happens the cure is obvious. Don’t let bacteria form around the dentures, get them sized properly and the bacteria won’t have a chance to spread and cause multiple problems around the mouth and throat.

A version of the disease that is common in teenagers and young children occurs in winter and is believed to be associated with dryness and coldness. The problem is often accentuated because the natural reaction to dry lips is to moisten them with the tongue. This action not only doesn’t help, it often spreads the infection. The solution to this kind of infection is also obvious, keep the skin around the mouth from getting too dry and where infection occurs treat only the infected area to avoid the risk of spreading the infection.

Where the cause isn’t one of the easy fixes listed above you will need to play specific attention to the immune system and do what is necessary to boost any deficiencies. For the most part this is going to mean increasing your iron and vitamin intake through the use of supplements or your diet. Where you use vitamin supplements look for Riboflavin(Vitamin B2), Niacin(Vitamin B3), Pyridoxine(Vitamin B6) and Cyanocobalamin(Vitamin B12). All of these vitamins are thought to have a direct benefit on the immunity system. Iron supplements are easy to come by, just ask your local pharmacist what they recommend to increase the immune system).

When you look at your diet to increase immunity you need to investigate what foods will deliver Iron and Vitamins - particularly the B vitamins. Leafy Green vegetables are packed with B vitamins, and you can also get them from Fish, fruits, liver, seafood and whole grain bread. The B vitamins will not only help your immune system, but also your nerves, eyes, hair, liver and skin. Some excellent sources of Iron are Pork, Beef or Chicken Liver, mussels, oysters and clams. Most vegetables also act as enhancers to your Iron absorption, so are also going to be beneficial.

Gout is a painful condition that occurs when the level of Uric acid in our bodies rises too high. The Uric acid accumulates around our joints and transforms into a crystalline form, most notably around fingers and toes. The crystals grow, sometimes very quickly and inflame the joints, redden the skin and cause swelling. When not treated the crystals can continue to grow and cause serious discomfort and even break through the skin and weep out.

To control the build up of this armful Uric acid it’s important to understand it’s origins. In a nutshell Uric acid is a Purine. Purines are a group of Nucleic acids that appear in certain foods as nitrogenous compounds. In a normal situation they pass through the body unchanged and are excreted in the same form they entered and as such they are not a vital part of our bodies regular function. The important point to hold on to is that purines enter the body through our food intake, and as such the levels of purines in our system, and specifically Uric acid, can be controlled by carefully monitoring and controlling our diet.

There are two ways of controlling the Uric Acid levels in our body through diet. The first is by avoiding foods known to be high in Purines. There include Beef and Pork, Meaty organs such as livers, hearts and tongue, turkey and goose flesh, cauliflower, asparagus, mushrooms, green peas, lentils, spinach, beans, dried peas, gravy, creamy sauces or meat broths, coffee, wheat, yeast, sweetbreads and alcohol. In other words, pretty much all the things that make life worth living.

Because the range of Purine high food is so extensive, the second form of using diet to control gout is very popular. This consists of increasing your intake of foods that have a higher alkaline level. Alkali is a compound that reduces acidity in the system. It raises the pH level of the body. In general a pH below 7 indicates a very acidic body state, whereas a pH above 7 means that the body is not as acidic. Acidic foods lower pH and alkalines increase it, so an Alkaline rich diet can counteract a high level of Uric Acid(or Eneral acidity) within the body.

Good sources of alkali’s are banana’s, watermelons, orange juices, potatoes, chocolate, water and figs. Inserting these foods into your diet will go a long way towards balancing bodies pH, counteracting a Uric acid build up and ultimately avoiding gout. If your gout persists you should consider the expert advise of Lisa McDowell

When a close friend first told me I had bad breath I was pretty shattered. I went through all the stages. Denial that it could be so when I took good care of myself and ate healthily. Anger that he had told me and finally acceptance that there was a problem I needed to fix. I suppose I should mention gratitude as well, because I could have gone for years more with everybody fearing to get too close to me because my breath stunk. He told me quietly and kindly, and I am truly grateful for that, because the harsh realty of Halitosis is that most people who suffer from it have no idea.

In my case the problem was only mild, and it didn’t take too much to beat it, but I did the research on how to go about it, and I’d like to share that with you.

Brush And Floss Your Teeth.

It’s alarming the number of adults who will stand over their children to make sure they brush their teeth, and then never brush their own. You need to brush your teeth regularly - twice a day, and a third if that is practical. You also need to floss regularly, daily is best. Flossing removes food scraps that become caught between your teeth. Brushing does too, and also helps freshen your breath with the scented toothpastes. The role of the water in brushing your teeth is often overlooked, but this also keeps the mouth moist and helps wash away food scraps.

Eat nice Smelling Foods.

Let’s make the obvious reference. If you eat garlic your breath will smell horrible. If you eat parsley your breath will be freshened. It’s not too difficult to work out what foods to eat and avoid if you aren’t going to have quick access to a toothbrush. but in case you haven’t worked it out here’s a quick list. Avoid: Fish, liver, tuna, garlic, onions. Eat: ginger, parsley, celery, cilantro. Easy yes?

Watch Your Tongue:

Sometimes the tongue accumulates white bacteria on the top. if you notice this then others are probably noticing your breath. Try scraping your tongue with a soft tooth brush, using plenty of water to assist. There are many tooth brushes that now come with a tongue scraper, or you can buy one separately.

Make Regular Dental Visits:

Visit a dentist twice a year if possible for a general check up. They will give your teeth a good clean and this reduces the bacteria levels in your mouth. The dentist can also identify any problems that may be arising and fix anything urgent. You know those adds that say “Only your dentist can give you a better toothpaste”? Well why not take advantage of that every now and then.

If you have a recurring breath problem then take advantage of a report on how you can cure your bad breath in 90 seconds flat with a common household item.
