It is recommended by many organizations, like the National Institute of Health, that adults consume from 20 to 35 grams of fiber everyday. It seems like a large amount, but having it in your diet is absolutely essential.
Â
Fiber is, specifically, the part of plants that cannot be digested. It appears in two forms, known as soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Soluble fibers dissolve easily in water and are found in things like fruit pectin. To benefit your body, the soluble fiber binds with the sugars in the stomach to allow them to be broken further before the travel through the intestines. This helps maintain a healthy blood sugar level as well as a proper cholesterol level.
Â
Insoluble fiber is what is known to most people as “fiber.” It comes in fruits, vegetables and bran. This bulky fiber acts like a drain cleaner and clears debris and bulk out of your bowels, promotes intestinal health and stimulates bowel movements.
Â
With proper dieting, you can maintain a perfect ratio between the two types of fibers: a quarter soluble and three quarters insoluble. Most complaints, when not receiving enough fiber in a diet, include constipation, hard stool and difficult passing of stool. Fiber can improve the cardiovascular system as well as the excretory system and digestive system. When included in a diet properly, it maintains healthy balances of blood sugar and cholesterol as well as promoting intestinal health. The benefits of a high fiber diet are numerous.

Glyconutrients is a new branch of nutrition that could improve the health of the world. In fact, it has been an exploding trend on the alternative health and nutrition sub market of the world. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology even deemed glyconutrients as one of the top ten technologies that will change the world. So what exactly are glyconutrients and how can they help you live a healthier life?
Â
Currently, half of the world’s population will die due to things like cancer, heart disease and autoimmune disease. The only answers the medical community has come up with so far involve adding new compounds to the human body in order to try and lessen or cure these afflictions. Glyconutrients, however, focus on improving the already existing compounds and biochemistry of the body to fight off and prevent these deadly diseases.
Â
Glyconutrients provide the body’s cells with an effective form of communication with other cells. It loads the body with plant sugars that are almost always non existent or lacking. Many diseases have been found to begin with a break down in communication between the cells of the body, so if that communication link is never broken, the idea is that the disease will then be fought off.
Â
There are currently eight identified glyconutrients, six of which are not usually in a regular diet. If you want to follow the philosophy of glycobiology, then you must take a supplement available online or at most health food stores.

An apple a day can keep the doctor away. Or can it? That’s right, forget the apple. The benefits of a banana are numerous, so go grab one to eat while you read all the good things it’s doing for you.
Â
Energy
A banana is packed full of raw sugars, namely fructose, glucose and sucrose. It is also very high in fiber. This combination will give you an extra energy boost as well as a satisfying full feeling in your stomach. The banana is the most popular fruit among world class athletes simply because of the energy and fiber that’s packed into its yellow peelings.
Â
Blood Pressure
The perfect fruit is also packed full of potassium (and contains little to no salt) which is a potent combination for fighting high blood pressure. In fact, the FDA has even allowed the banana industry to claim that they’re the only fruit capable of lowering blood pressure.
Â
Stress
A banana a day can also keep the psychologist away! In fact, a banana is a natural antidepressant because it contains a protein called tryptophan that is naturally reduced to serotonin, which is a chemical that causes feelings like tranquility and happiness. This is the same chemical that antidepressants produce inside the body.

Do you find yourself tiring out during the most important parts of your day? Do you feel like you need a boost? Instead of reaching for the caffeinated energy drink or the pillar of energy known as coffee, try one of the three suggestions that will benefit your body rather than harm it.
Â
Cereal
If you find yourself constantly hungry and needing to munch on something throughout the day, fill a sandwich bag with dry cereal. Only choose cereals that are very low in sugar (usually the health food cereals or bran) and high in fiber (especially bran) because it will give your body a feeling of being “full.” The carbohydrates will also give you enough energy to survive the day.
Â
Fruit
Fruit is the natural energy food. It’s loaded with nutrients and vitamins that help keep you sharp and focused. The raw sugars that are packed into fruit will help your mind work faster and your stomach feel satisfied. Think of it as a safer, healthier caffeine buzz. Fruit is also easy to carry with you to a job or in the car.
Â
Yogurt
Yogurt is widely available in many different flavors. It contains many live cultures that have many benefits for your body. The fruit flavored yogurts especially, are packed with the raw sugars that you need for an energy boost. Try to avoid yogurts that come with things like crushed Oreos or granola as it adds a lot of fat to an almost perfect food.

Do you really know what organic means? To be called organic, a product must go through a certification process. Each country has their own board of certification that has created their own standards for calling a product organic and giving them their seal of approval.
All organic products come from exactly where you would expect, and are not processed in anyway. The food must be without artificial chemicals, pesticides, coloring and herbicides. It is also required that organic food not be genetically modified in any way and also produced in a manner that is friendly to the environment.
The methods used to produce organic products on farms differ greatly from commercial products. Crop rotation is a popular method that changes the location of a certain crop everywhere to avoid depleting the soil of all its nutrients because different plants use different nutrients. This allows the soil to be naturally replenished with the proper nutrients. To avoid insects, interplantting is performed. It involves placing bug repelling plants between those that attract the insects. Natural fertilizers made from compost or manure are used and things like earthworms are employed to aerate the soil.
Essentially, organic food is that which is completely natural and not altered in any way by humans. Â

You probably should have listened to your Mother at the dinner table when she told you to eat your vegetables. Most diets, today, especially in the Western world, are lacking in vegetables. In fact, if you wish to get the most of your vegetables (and in some cases if you’re hoping to get any nutrition out of your vegetables) then you should consider eating or drinking them raw.
The gigantic demand for food has led modern farming techniques to be focused on growing crops faster and more efficiently rather than growing quality crops. Most vegetables grown on large commercials farms are severely lacking in nutritional value because they haven’t had the time to fully mature like normal vegetables. After you then cook these vegetables to serve at dinner, they’ve lost all their nutritional value and are as good for you as eating paper!
If you want to avoid this, then you can, of course, start your own vegetable garden in your back yard. This will allow for the plants to grow and mature properly and reach their maximum nutritional value before being eaten. Another method would be to eat your vegetables raw. In this case, cooking them would not remove their entire nutritional value.
Try finding a recipe for a tasty and healthy multi vegetable juice. You can even include some fruits if you want a sweeter taste. Eating or drinking your vegetables raw will benefit your entire body and will also help your immune systems fight off things like the common cold and stomach flu.
